The Post-Workout Mutton Keema
One-pan mutton keema for after training: about 33 g of protein per serving from the mutton alone, ready in 40 minutes.
Raw materials
The Meatigo mince this recipe is built on. One pack makes two servings. Everything else is pantry.

Ingredients
Method
Seven steps, one pan. Brown the mince well and the rest is easy.
- 01Get set
Take the mince out of the fridge 10 minutes before cooking. Do not wash it: it is cleaned and ready to go from pack to pan.
- 02Temper the spices
Heat the ghee in a wide, heavy pan. Add the cumin, bay leaf and cardamom and let them sizzle for 30 seconds.
- 03Build the base
Add the onion and cook for 6 to 7 minutes until golden. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chillies for a minute, then add the tomato and cook until soft.
- 04Add the powders
Stir in the turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt with a splash of water. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 05Brown the mince
Add the mince and break it up with a spoon. Cook on a high flame for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring often, until the moisture dries and it browns.
- 06Simmer
Lower the flame. Stir in the curd, the peas and half a cup of water. Cover and cook for 12 to 15 minutes until the mince is tender and the gravy clings.
- 07Finish
Stir in the garam masala and lemon juice, scatter the coriander and rest for 2 minutes. Serve with roti, rice or a bowl of curd.
Questions
How much protein is in this keema?+
Meatigo lists 14.7 g of protein per 100 g of raw mince, so a 450 g pack has about 66 g, or about 33 g per serving when shared by two. The curd and peas add a little more.
Is mutton mince low in fat?+
No. The same label lists 17.2 g of fat per 100 g, so this is protein-rich but not lean. Spoon off the extra fat after simmering for a lighter bowl.
Do I need to wash the mince?+
No. Meatigo cleans it in-house, and washing only loses nutrients. Take it from the pack straight to the pan.
Can I make it ahead?+
Yes. Cool it, store it in an airtight box in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat until steaming hot.
